They have a unique bass sound which comes from the air inside the tube. The tubes are played with stiff foam Paddles which are supplied with the instrument and are available separately. Paddle prices

Batonkas are currently available in marine quality stainless steel or in brown, orange or grey PVC.
The stainless version is significantly more expensive The instruments are played with foam bats. one pair is supplied with each set of 6 tubes. They are supplied with a no-nonsense through-tube fixing.
PVC not recommended for vulnerable sitings.
